Topic: Cybersecurity for Small Business
The January Business Breakfast Bytes will feature information on how businesses can be harmed by identity theft, the issues it can cause and tactics and resources to help businesses monitor and safeguard personal information.
Hosted by: Menasha Corporation
Jeff Kersten, Agency Liaison for the Bureau of Consumer Protection/Division of Trade & Consumer Protection through the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, will lead the session.
Did you know that identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the country? Are you a business that has access to business and consumers' personal information? Do you know what resources are out there to help prevent cyber security threats? Do you know how to properly train your employees to prevent any cyber related accidents?
According to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection's Bureau of Consumer Protection, "Businesses are also harmed by identity theft, costing them not only money, but sometimes their reputation as well". One of the biggest challenges in this area is the continued technological advancements - almost every business is online in some form. This opens up businesses to the risk of infiltration from data security breaches, phishing emails, etc. This presentation will cover ways to prevent this from happening as well as what to do if you are faced with a breach.
