Topic: Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace
The February Business Breakfast Bytes will tackle the powerful topic of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. This includes learning what diversity and inclusion really means as well as the overall impact on an organization and its employees.
Hosted by: Kimberly-Clark
Karen Nelson, Diversity & Inclusion Leader with the Appleton Mayor’s Office, will lead the session.
Are you aware of what diversity and inclusion really means? Do you know of ways to create a workplace that properly serves that mission? Are you looking for ways to create a more positive workplace culture? Do you know of all the ways your organization can improve with an increased diverse and inclusive mentality? Have you heard of the “Dignity & Respect Campaign”?
The U.S. Office of Personnel Management summarizes it well. “To gain the maximum benefit from our increasingly diverse workforce, we must make every employee feel welcome and motivated to work their hardest and rise through the ranks. We must affirm that we work better together because of our differences, not despite them.” Working for an organization that actively practices respect and dignity not only improves employee morale but can also lead to improved employee retention and the generation of new ideas and productive insight into current tasks.
Karen Nelson has more than 25 years of experience in regards to diversity in the workplace. Prior to her current role in the Appleton Mayor’s Office, she was a lead consultant for NelStar Leadership and Diversity Consulting.
