On Sunday, December 9, start the holiday season with a pillar of Baroque music, Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s (1643 – 1704) Midnight Mass for Christmas. This Baroque concert’s setting is Appleton’s First Congregational United Church of Christ, located at 724 E. South River Street, at its 8:30 and 10:45 AM worship services. It is part of the church’s, “Masterworks in Worship” series. Charpentier’s important works include a Midnight Mass for Christmas, his “Te Deum” and 1693 opera, “Medee.” The services will feature the vocal and musical talents of: Sanctuary Choir, Lawrence University Music Scholar soloists and Chamber Orchestra with congregational carol singing. First Congregational’s Mr. John M. Albrecht, director for Music Ministries, is conducting this rich, Baroque concert. Mr. Jon D. Riehle serves as organist. Enrich your soul this holiday season with French carol – based Baroque choral music.
