We are facing unprecedented levels of stress and hardship due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. How can we stay balanced in the midst of so much change and uncertainty? Scientific research suggests that we can train our minds to be calm, focused, and resilient, and that it only takes a few minutes a day to learn simple skills that we can apply in everyday life. In this webinar, Dr. Cortland Dahl, a scientist at UW-Madison's Center for Healthy Minds and Chief Contemplative Officer with Healthy Minds Innovations, will discuss scientific insights and practical tools that we can use to weather the storm of the current crisis.
Hosted by Dr. Cortland Dahl: Dr. Cortland Dahl is a scientist at UW-Madison’s Center for Healthy Minds and the Chief Contemplative Officer at the Center’s non-profit partner, Healthy Minds Innovations. His work focuses on theoretical understandings of psychological well-being, and the neural and cognitive mechanisms through which well-being can be trained. In addition to his scientific work, he has an extensive background in studying contemplative practices, which includes eight years spent living in Tibetan refugee settlements in India and Nepal, the publication of twelve books of translations of Tibetan meditation manuals, and the co-founding of a global network of meditation centers. He is also the creator of the Healthy Minds Program, which was recently released as an app to promote well-being in individuals and organizations around the world.
